Vacant Home Destroyed By Fire In East Nashville

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A vacant home in east Nashville was destroyed by fire on Wednesday morning.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible when the fire firefighters got on the scene around 6:30 a.m. at a home on Airpark Drive, near Shelby Bottoms. A bus driver who spotted the smoke called 911.

Firefighters had a tough time getting inside to fight the fire because of a wrought-iron door.

The woman who owns the home told NewsChannel 5 that she was in the process of remodeling the home, and owns several rental properties.

No one was living inside the home at the time.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
