Winchester Man Charged With Criminal Homicide

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn. - One man was killed in a shooting in downtown Winchester Wednesday night.

Winchester Police Chief Dennis Young said that around 9:30 p.m. 49-year-old Gregory Morris Booton got into a fight with 26-year-old John Franklin Tucker near the downtown area of Winchester. After the men exchanged words, Booton allegedly shot Tucker multiple times.

Tucker was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died Thursday morning.

Police arrested Booton Thursday morning and charged him with criminal homicide. He was being held in the Franklin County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
