MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities have charged a Shelby County man with murder in the death of his wife, whose body was found in the Loosahatchie River

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said Friday that 33-year-old Terrence Thomas acknowledged strangling his wife, 31-year-old Karen Denise Thomas, in the bedroom of their home.

The sheriff's office said Terrence Thomas then dumped her body off a bridge and into the river.

According to an affidavit, authorities identified Karen Thomas after her nude body was found Thursday, floating face-down in the Loosahatchie.

Terrence Thomas had reported his wife missing October 11. Friends and relatives had been searching for her.

Court records show that Terrence Thomas has been booked in jail and is being held without bond. Records do not show if he has a lawyer.
