OWENTON, Ky. (AP) -- A man and child have died and a woman is injured after a house fire in northern Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police say the fire broke out early Friday, and a preliminary investigation indicates it started in the kitchen.

Police said 31-year-old Brock Morgan of Greensburg, Ind., and a 2-year-old child whose name was not given both died at the scene.

Police said the child's mother, 30-year-old Katherine Perry of Owenton, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to University of Cincinnati Hospital. The hospital did not immediately return a call seeking information about her condition.
