NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An infant has been re-admitted to the hospital, less than a week after being released from the hospital following heart surgery.
Andrew Hagewood's family posted on Facebook that he was having trouble breathing, and was re-admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital Sunday night after an X-ray showed fluid overload.
Hospital officials said he was in critical but stable condition on Monday afternoon. The Facebook post said he could be released again by the end of the week.
Andrew had been released last Tuesday, after spending several months in the hospital following a heart transplant on March 30. It was the first time he'd been able to go to his home in White House since his birth in February.
Andrew's parents hope his story will help raise awareness about the lives that are saved every day through organ donation.
