Williamson County Teacher Dies While On Trip With Students

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn.- An 8th grade math teacher from Williamson County has passed away at a hospital in Virginia.

Officials with Williamson County Schools said that 8th grade math teacher from Grassland Middle School, Jim Benton died while on a non-school sponsored field trip with several students. A spokesperson said Benton became ill while on the trip and was taken to a local hospital where he died.

A cause of death has not been released.

Grief counselors will be at Grassland Middle School Wednesday when students return for fall break. A Facebook page was also set up to remember him.
