NASHVILLE, Tenn. - State election officials said Tennessee voters are continuing to make a strong turnout for early voting in the November 6 election.

Turnout for Wednesday topped 100,000 voters. Figures posted Thursday afternoon on the Division of Elections website said the statewide total of voters who have already cast was just under 731,000.

In Davidson County, more than 74,000 people have already cast their votes early.

The early voting period began October 17 and ends November 1.

During the last presidential election in 2008, more than 1.5 million Tennesseans cast ballots during early voting. That was about 58 percent of all ballots cast in that election.

Some reminders before you head to the polls:

  • Bring government issued photo ID. You must have it in order to vote per a new law;
  • Read over your sample ballot before you get to the polls;
  • Check your voter registration to make sure you're going to the right location'
  • The Election Commission expects a high turnout Saturday, as it is the last Saturday of Early Voting.
