LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn.- After a week of investigating, detectives in Lincoln County have made no arrests in a killing spree that claimed six lives.
Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that it has been a productive couple of days, and their agents as well as detectives in Lincoln and Alabama are exhausting every lead that has come in. The case has become a challenge, they said, since there are multiple victims and multiple suspects.
The violence began on Monday, when deputies found the bodies of 22-year-old Chabreya Campbell her 18 month old son, and 21-year-old Amber McCaulley, inside a house on Huntsville Highway. Campbell was about six months pregnant at the time of her murder; her unborn child was killed as well.
A few hours later- the body of 21-year-old Jessica Brown was found nearby at her home in Fayetteville. The discovery of two more deaths followed, the very next day, across the state line in Alabama.
The TBI says it's a lot of evidence to process and for that reason, this investigation can't be rushed.
"When you have multiple victims and multiple crime scenes, there are numerous amounts of statements you have to take, forensic examinations that have to be done, to ensure that anyone that we charge we have a rock solid case," said Kristin Helm, a spokesperson for the TBI.
Friday also marked the first funeral for one of the victims. Jessica Brown was laid to rest Friday morning in Fayetteville, she leaves behind a two month old son, whose father, Warren Crutcher, was also killed earlier this week. His funeral will take place on Monday.
