Two Teens Killed In Bellevue Wreck

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Two teenagers were killed in a car wreck that shut down Highway 70 in the Bellevue area for nearly seven hours. The impact of this accident was so strong that parts of the car, including the engine, covered the road.

Police said at about 9:20 p.m. Friday two cars were going east on Highway 70 South when they came up to a green light. Witnesses said the two cars took off at a high rate of speed. The driver of a blue Infinity lost control trying to avoid another car and went off the road and crashed into a tree at Cross Timbers Drive. Family members stood by watching as authorities processed the scene.

"What makes it even more tragic is that the driver of the other vehicle that was with him at the time, with the driver at the time, they knew each other from my understanding," said Sergeant Bob Sheffield from Metro Police.

Officials said there were many factors that contributed to this accident, including speed and rain. Police said this was also a newly paved road and neither victim appeared to be wearing a seat belt.

The victims have been identified as the driver, Neejervan S. Abdy, 19, of Harpeth View Drive, and his passenger,18-year-old Michael Fishback.
