Manchester Teacher Placed On Leave After Child Abuse Arrest

COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn .- A teacher at College Street Elementary School in Manchester has been put on administrative leave without pay after his arrest on child abuse charges.

Gary Wilson Hawkins, 32, turned himself in to the Coffee County jail Friday after witnesses came forward describing excessive bruises on his young daughter.

A preliminary hearing for Hawkins was delayed Monday in Coffee County General Sessions Court until November 26.

Hawkins remains free on bond.
