HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - A southwestern Kentucky school bus has struck a deer, sending nine children to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office said the bus struck the deer Monday morning along Madisonville Road in Hopkinsville. It then hit a guard rail and skidded about 150 feet before stopping.

The injured students and the bus monitor were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center. The bus driver was not injured. The deer was killed.

Students that were uninjured were taken by another bus to Crofton Elementary. School officials called all of the parents of injured children to speak to them directly about the wreck.
