CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- A shoplifting investigation in Clarksville led officers to the discovery of a meth lab in a local hotel room.
Officials said that officers were called to a business on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard Sunday on reports that two men were seen shoplifting over $100 in merchandise. One of the men, 23-year-old Jonathan Scroggins fled the scene when officers tried to question him.
Police later located Scroggins at a hotel in Holiday Drive later in the day. While investigating police discovered drug paraphernalia and a two liter bottle used to cook methamphetamines.
"Thanks to the steadfast work of CPD officers, we were able to prevent the creation of more methamphetamine in this community, and were also able to put a stop to the often dangerously explosive meth cooking methods inside this local hotel," said Director Jesse Reynolds.
Scroggins was arrested and charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamines.
