Woman Charged With Stealing $20K From Disabled Patients
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Lawrenceburg woman has been arrested for stealing from patients with mental disabilities at a nonprofit center.
Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested 48-year-old Rona Bivens on Monday. Bivens was indicted by a grand jury after she stole more than $20,000 from 14 patients at the Impact Center of Columbia between July of 2009 and February 2011.
Police said an investigation began in February 2011 when allegations against Bivens came to light. Bivens was employed at the Impact Center of Columbia from August 2008 until February 2011 and worked as a Division Coordinator providing care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Bivens was arrested Monday and charged with 14 counts of willful exploitation of an adult as well as multiple theft charges. She was scheduled to appear in Maury County Circuit Court on November 5, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
