NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Officials are trying to determine what caused a fire that damaged a home in east Nashville on Monday night.

Crews were called to a home in the 1400 block of Forest Avenue near North 16th Street just after 10 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the home.

Firefighters quickly got the fire under control, but there was serious damage to the kitchen and attic.

A woman inside the home at the time was treated at the scene, but is expected to be ok.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
