Teen Taken Into Custody After Crash, Shot Fired

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro police officers responding to a "shots fired" call found a teenager inside a crashed vehicle early Wednesday morning.

An emergency call reported a car slammed into a pole on Ashland City Highway near Hydes Ferry Pike just after 3 a.m.

Police arrived to find a teen barely conscious in the driver's seat. They believe he stole his grandparent's car and a handgun.

There is evidence he fired the weapon from inside the car, as officers found a bullet hole in the back of the vehicle.

However, there was no evidence anyone was hit and no reports of a gunshot injury at local hospitals.

The teenager was being treated by paramedics, because they believe he was either drunk or on some type of narcotic.

No word on what, if any, charges he will face. His identity was not released.
