NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - State probation and parole officers will be joined by law enforcement to make random visits to the homes of sex offenders to make sure they are not participating in Halloween trick-or-treating.
The state Department of Correction said in a news release that "Operation Blackout" will ensure that sex offenders who are under TDOC supervision adhere to strict guidelines on Wednesday.
Sex offenders are required to remain in their homes between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. They can't open their doors to trick-or-treaters, can't display fall decorations or dress in costumes.
Offenders who are found to be in noncompliance with the restrictions could face additional charges for probation or parole violations.
