Man Charged After Memphis Bomb Threat

Posted: Updated:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities said a Jackson man faces charges in relation to a bomb threat involving Christian Brothers University.

Police said 38-year-old Gordon Holly has been charged with making a false report. He is being held in jail on $5,000 bond.

A police affidavit said Christian Brothers police received a phone message Oct. 23 from a man with a blocked number who claimed to be a student at the school.

The affidavit said the man said he was tired of the train traffic behind his dorm room and he was going to get fertilizer and a "homemade device" and destroy the train tracks.

Authorities tracked down Holly, who wrote an apology letter and acknowledged he made the call.

Online court records do not show whether he has a lawyer.
