LA VERGNE, Tenn. – An alert officer was able to help recover a stolen vehicle within 17 minutes of the theft.
La Vergne Police received a report that a 2013 Kia Optima had been taken from a driveway on E. Nir Shreibman Boulevard at 8:03 a.m. Tuesday. An officer spotted the car on Parthenon Parkway, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
A brief pursuit ensued until the driver pulled the car over on Crestview Drive, and fled on foot.
The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody at 8:20 a.m. when another officer spotted him walking along the street.
The juvenile was charged with theft greater than $10,000, felony evading arrest, and driving with a suspended license. He was placed in the custody of the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.
