Appeal Denied In 2008 Green Hills Murder Case

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The courts have denied an appeal to a woman currently serving time for killing her husband inside their Green Hills home.

On Tuesday, the Tennessee Court of Appeals denied Kelley Cannon an appeal. Cannon was convicted in 2010 for killing her husband James Cannon. During the trial it took a jury just an hour to find Cannon guilty of first degree pre-meditated murder. She received an automatic life sentence in prison.

Cannon appealed the decision, saying some of the evidence presented shouldn't have been admitted to trial. The appeals court ruled that all the evidence presented in the case was sufficient.

Cannon will now have to serve 49 more years in prison before she's eligible for parole.
