Maryville Pill Mill Owner Who Jumped Bond Caught

Posted: Updated:

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The owner of a Maryville pain clinic who jumped bond during her federal trial for conspiracy, drug charges and money laundering has been apprehended in Florida.

The U.S. Marshals Service for the Eastern District of Tennessee said in a news release that Tamral Guzman was arrested Wednesday morning by Florida marshals as she made her way to the Hollywood beach.

Guzman was the owner of Maryville Pain Management Consultants, which federal agents shut down in December 2010.

Prosecutors said she was raking in cash payments of up to $28,000 per day to prescribe powerful painkillers.

She was free on her own recognizance when she failed to show up for trial on Oct. 2 and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

She was convicted on all counts two days later.
