JOELTON, Tenn. - A Joelton charity still recovering from a June incident where a truck crashed into the front of their store, fell victim to a robbery early Saturday morning.

"I'm kind of in shock that someone would steal from us when we give so much," said Denise Martins who oversees operation for the Joelton Hope Center.

Security cameras at the store show a man breaking through the back door around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday. He then made his way through a back hallway, into the main store and pried open the cash register.

"He got a total of $80.  It's a lot of money to us because if you look around at a lot of our prices, we have things for yard sale prices. We don't make a lot of money," Martins adds.

All of the clothes sold in the thrift store help pay for food the organization stores in a food pantry which is eventually given to needy families.

"He bypassed the alarm. The alarm didn't go off. Our funds are kind of getting a little low trying to fix all these things," she added.

In June, an 18-wheeler slammed into the front of the store causing extensive damage that was costly to repair. They were still recovering from that accident when Saturday morning's break-in occurred.

"I think I'm more mad that he would feel like he would have to come in and rob a place that helps other people," Denise added.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call Crimestoppers at 74-CRIME.
