Suspended Milan Officer Facing Sex-Related Charges

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a suspended Milan police officer has been charged with rape.

The TBI said 39-year-old Adam Scott Martin was indicted by a Gibson County grand jury on 24 counts, including rape, sexual battery by an authority figure and incest.

Authorities said Martin, of Atwood, was arrested in July on a charge of sexual battery by an authority figure against a 19-year-old woman. The TBI said that charge is included in the indictment released Monday and all the charges involve the same victim.

Martin was held at the Gibson County jail on $150,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for November 13.

A phone call made to the jail rang unanswered Monday and it could not be determined if Martin has a lawyer.
