Courtney Rogers Wins 45th District Seat In State House

Posted: Updated:

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. – Republican Courtney Rogers has taken the 45th District Seat in the Tennessee State House.

Rogers won by a landslide, with 19,965 votes, or 73.4 percent, over Democratic opponent, Jeanette Jackson, who had 7,224 votes, or 26.6 percent.

Rogers upset incumbent Debra Maggart, a high-ranking Republican and longtime state lawmaker, in a contentious primary battle after the NRA threw its support behind her.

The NRA said it wanted Maggart out after she helped block the so-called "guns in parking lots" bill in the last legislative session.

District 45 includes part of Sumner County.
