NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Interim Davidson County Clerk Brenda Wynn was officially elected to the post Tuesday night.
The Democrat won with 73.6 percent of the vote, against independents Jeff Crum and Kenneth Eaton.
Wynn gave her acceptance speech filled with gratitude to voters at the Tennessee Democratic Party watch party on Tuesday night.
Wynn took over for John Arriola, who resigned in June after a NewsChannel 5 investigation found he was charging and pocketing a fee to marry couples.
Wynn said the Clerk's Office will be an open book.
"We plan to be a very transparent office. We plan to do things with the utmost integrity. We're going to do things above board," Wynn said. "We are already marrying people, but you know what it costs? It costs a hug."
Wynn said her time as County Clerk has been smooth, so far.
