NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The suspect who police said shot a Metro Police officer earlier this week was released from the hospital on Wednesday.
Police officials said that 18-year-old Eric Perkins were released from the hospital where he was recovering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Davidson County Jail where he was charged with two counts of attempting to kill Metro officers.
Perkins was accused of opening fire on two officers Monday morning in the area around the River Chase Apartments. Officials said that Perkins ran from police and as officers chased him, he fired shots hitting Metro Police Officer Faye Denson in the leg. Another Metro Officer on the scene, Officer Carroll Fondaw, returned fire and struck Perkins once in the chest.
Officer Denson was released from the hospital Monday afternoon after receiving treatment. She remains off-duty as she recovers.
Perkins has been charged with two counts of attempted murder. No court date has been set.
