Two-Year-Old Among Three Injured In North Nashville Shooting

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police have identified the man, woman and two-year-old child who were injured in a shooting in North Nashville Wednesday night.

Officials responded to a shooting at the Knoll Crest Apartments on Creekwood Drive just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. They said 25-year-old Phillip Woodard, 22-year-old Tonika Washington and their two-year-old son, Milo, were all getting out of the car when two men approached them and opened fire.

"All I remember is just the gunfire, and I jumped on the floor," said neighbor Ciera Jordan. "It's scary for anybody. It's scary to know that somebody could walk up and do anything or pull up and do anything like that to anybody."

All three were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police said Woodard and the toddler remained hospitalized in stable condition as of Friday morning. The mother was treated and released.

Detectives said Thursday they believe the shooting was targeted at Woodard.

Police said the shooters fled in a green Crown Victoria. They were described as black males. One was skinny, 6'3", with a gray hoodie, and wore a hat with ear flaps.  The second suspect was described as about 5'7" with dark clothing.

There could have been a second vehicle of interest with more suspects. Police believe it could be an older model white or silver sedan with a hydraulic lift.

Police continue to investigate the motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.
