Deadly Shooting Suspect Brought Back To Nashville

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting has been brought back to Nashville to face charges.

Ronald McCallum, 18, was extradited from Lumberton, North Carolina after being arrested on October 22.

Police said McCallum was wanted in the shooting of 21-year-old Abanzer Tsegaye during a drug transaction at an Antioch motel on September 20.

Tsegaye was shot and killed when he and a friend went to the Knights Inn on Bell Road to buy marijuana. A witness identified McCallum as one of two men Tsegaye was dealing with when the shooting occurred.

Police said McCallum was free on $15,000 bond in relation to a felony marijuana arrest in January. A bench warrant was issued in that case when he failed to show in court on September 26.

McCallum was charged with criminal homicide, burglary, and drug offenses.
