Smyrna Daycare Employee Charged With Child Abuse

SMYRNA, Tenn.- A Smyrna daycare teacher has been arrested and charged with child abuse after breaking a 3-year-old child's arm.

Smyrna Police said that on November 2, officers were notified about possible abuse at the Rock Springs Academy Daycare in Smyrna. After an investigation officers determined that 39-year-old Carla Hougland broke a 3-year-old little girls arm when she roughly grabbed her to put her on a mat.

The child was treated at a local hospital.

Hougland was arrested and charged with child abuse. A court date was scheduled for January 29th, 2013 at 1:00pm.
