West Nashville on Charlotte Pike at Davidson Road
NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A man is
dead after a motorcycle crash in West Nashville on Charlotte Pike at Davidson Road shortly after
12:30 Saturday afternoon.
The motorcycle collided
with a pickup truck along the busy road, and the rider's leg was severed. A witness said the driver of the pickup appeared
to be making a left turn when the accident happened, and the damage to the
front of the truck indicates how powerful the impact must have been.
"People neglect the left
hand turn all the time out here, and if the cops can't put up a concrete blocker
or something to keep people from turning
left there," witness Kevin Spittle said as he explained there have been several
wrecks in that area. "This is one of the worst we've ever seen here, and it's
just not a good thing."
The
victim's name has not been released, and there's been no word on whether any
charges will be filed against the driver.
Earlier this year, TDOT officials unveiled a new awareness campaign
after a dramatic rise in the number of motorcycle deaths on Tennessee roads.
