MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. -- A Maury County elementary school principal has been placed on administrative leave while detectives investigate a
complaint involving a child.
Captain Jimmy Tennyson with the Maury County Sheriff's Department confirmed that that detectives have opened a criminal investigation
focusing Wright Elementary School Principal Jerry Harrison. Harrison was put on leave by the Maury County Director of Schools on Monday.
"We just have an active investigation at this time looking into allegations that were reported to us," said Captain Jimmy Tennyson with the sheriff's department.
Detectives said the allegations are not sexual in nature, but relate to a complaint filed involving an eight-year-old student. Investigators said there are lots of rumors swirling
around the case, but for now they are still gathering the facts, interviewing
the child's family and school faculty
No criminal charges have been filed, but Harrison will remain off the job until the investigation is completed.
Harrison could not be reached for comment.
