SPRING HILL, Tenn.- State environmental officials will hold a town hall meeting Thursday after an outpouring of concern from Spring Hill residents over a proposed crematory.
TDEC, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. at Northfield Workforce Development and Conference Center.
The meeting comes after over a year of debate and legal fights about the proposed Spring Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home. The owners of the crematory won approval to build in July 2012, after being turned down in 2011 because of health concerns about emissions. A study done in 2012 showed there was only a very small chance those emissions could harm the public.
Since concerns about the emission continue, TDEC decided to hold a public forum after getting significant community feedback. Comments or questions about air quality may be submitted in writing.
