BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- One of the biggest commercial development projects in the history of Brentwood is one step closer to becoming a reality, after winning zoning approval.
During a meeting Monday night a packed audience heard a lot about the Streets of Brentwood, a mixed-use, town center development that includes a theater, office buildings, retail and restaurant space as well as a hotel. The major concerned voiced about the new project was the traffic it could create.
The proposed development would be built near Maryland Way and Franklin Road in Brentwood, an area already dealing with heavy traffic. During the meeting, developers asked city commissioners to change zoning for the property of the former Murray-Ohio headquarters. Developers said they realize the project will bring more traffic, but it's something they are excited about.
"We understand that there is traffic and that there are current traffic issues. We also would not stand up here and tell you that this project will not generate traffic. If it doesn't generate traffic then it's going to be a failure, so we understand there will be traffic ," said Michael Hidman, one of the developers.
The Street of Brentwood is a large project that will change the city of Brentwood.
