Road At I-24/I-40 Merge Reopens After Tractor Trailer Overturns

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An overturned tractor trailer blocked traffic for several hours where eastbound Interstate 24 merges with eastbound Interstate 40, southeast of downtown Nashville.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday, just before Fesslers Lane, and was cleared around 2:45 p.m.

Officials said the truck was eastbound on I-40 when the driver took the turn into the merge too fast. The tractor trailer went across both lanes of I-24 before going off the left side of the road and tipping over down the embankment.

It was not known if there were any other vehicles involved.

There was no word on any injuries.

Vehicles from I-40 were able to move slowly the area, but traffic from eastbound I-24 was blocked for several hours.

All four lanes were closed for several minutes around 2 p.m. while a tow truck attempted to move the tractor trailer.

Westbound lanes on I-24 and I-40 were not affected.
