Authorities Investigate Homicide, Assault In Coffee County

Posted: Updated:

COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. – Police are investigating a homicide and assault after a man was found shot to death at a rural Coffee County home and a woman was found badly hurt at an intersection near the road.

Detectives said Thomas Colucci was found shot to death Tuesday morning at 7951 Maple Springs Road. Officials said Colucci's fiancé, Connie King, had been badly beaten. An autopsy reported released Wednesday showed that Colucci died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office were called to the intersection of Pocahontas and Maple Springs Road just after 8 a.m. after a passerby called 911 and reported seeing the woman running from the home.

Authorities said King was covered in blood and screaming for help.

When authorities went the home, they found Colucci's body next to the back door. He had been shot several times.

King was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said King had three children, who were taken out of school.

Police said they did not have any suspects or a possible motive, but did not think the crime was random. Coffee County officials said the killing was not the result of a home invasion or domestic dispute.

They were still at the home Tuesday afternoon, processing the scene and looking for clues about what happened.
