14-Year-Old Girl Charged After Bomb Threat Evacuates Schools

Posted: Updated:

GALLATIN, Tenn. - A teenage girl was taken into custody for allegedly causing chaos at two Sumner County schools with a bomb threat.

The Gallatin Police Department evacuated RT Fisher School and Gallatin High School Wednesday, while they checked out the schools to make sure things were safe at both buildings.

The Gallatin Fire Department also took part, as well as the Tennessee Highway Patrol. No bomb was found.

Police said tips led to the identification of the 14-year-old female, and she was charged with two counts of filing a false report. She was placed in the Sumner County Juvenile Detention facility

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.

Police said tying up resources result in longer response times, and put the public at danger for those who really do have an emergency.
