Clerk Helps Police Catch Thieves

Posted: Updated:

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A local crime stopper helped police catch two criminals who robbed a local convenience store Monday afternoon.

Police said two women went into the Pantry convenience store at the corner of West Northfield Boulevard and MTCS Drive and robbed the clerk at gunpoint around 1 p.m.

When the suspects fled the store, the clerk, a mother of three, jumped into her car and followed their getaway car.

The clerk called 911 and directed police to the location of the suspects as she was in pursuit. Both suspects, who police said had no idea they were being followed, were arrested a short time later.

Police also recovered two stolen weapons from the suspects, including a 40-caliber, semi-automatic handgun that had been reported missing out of Smyrna.

The suspect's names were not released.
