A jumper by Kharon Butcher and a 3-pointer and layup by Miller stretched Tennessee State's lead to 51-39 with 10:52 remaining.

South Alabama got within eight, 51-43, on layups by Mychal Ammons and Rubit, but Tennessee State regained a 12-point lead on a jumper by Michael Green and an M.J. Rhett dunk, with an assist from Miller.

The game was part of a four-team, three-day round-robin portion of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
