NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Wednesday marked the busiest travel day of the year as folks hit the roads and airports to see family and friends during the Thanksgiving holiday.
At Nashville International airport over 17,000 people traveled through. On an average day, the airport sees about 10,000 travelers. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving has long been considered the busiest travel day of the year. So far all the flights from BNA have been on time and travel hassles have remained at a minimum.
In Tennessee around one million people are expected to travel 500 miles or more for the holidays by car or plane, which is up less than 2% from 2011.
