Family Shot Multiple Times Speaks Out

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A family shot multiple times and left for dead have spoken out for the first time since the attack.

On November 7th, Metro Police Officers were called to a shooting at the Knoll Crest Apartments in North Nashville. Officials said that 22-year-old Tonika Washington and their two-year-old son, Milo, were all getting out of the car when two men approached them and opened fire.

Their 5-year-old child witnessed the entire scene.

"When they shot my daddy he fell on the ground," said Aaron Washington.

Aaron's two year old brother Milo was hit in the leg and a bullet grazed his head. Tonika, 9-months-pregnant at the time of the shooting, and Milo were taken to Vanderbilt Medical University Medical center. Tonika was struck in the arm. Her boyfriend, Phillip Woodard was shot 11 times.

"I was trying to tell Phil get up, I'm going to the hospital and he couldn't so I had to leave him there," said Tonika.

Police said they don't have any suspects at this point, but they don't think this was random. Woodard has a long criminal history, including drugs and gang-affiliations. He insists his past offenses had nothing to do with what happened.

In addition to recovering from the shooting, the couple was evicted from their apartment the same day they were released from the hospital.

As a result of two-year-old Milo's injuries, he suffered a stroke to his right side. He now has to endure several weeks of daily physical therapy to try to get the movement back in his right leg.

Anyone with information about the crime can call Crime Stoppers at (615) 74-CRIME.
