Volunteers Help Prepare Thanksgiving Meal For Rescue Mission

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Rescue Mission will serve hundreds of Thanksgiving meals during the Great Thanksgiving Banquet.

Homeless and hungry guests will be served a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal complete with turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie.

Volunteers showed up early Thursday morning to help with the preparations and to serve breakfast to those staying at the Mission.

"Came from Knoxville, brought my family down to be with our family for Thanksgiving. And spent the morning here at the Mission helping out," said Cliff, a volunteer.

"I think it's amazing. It's a way to pay it forward, and I've done this for the past three years now, so we enjoy it a lot," said volunteer Erin Goodwin from Lebanon.

Nearly 800 volunteers were expected to help out throughout the day. The great Thanksgiving banquet will begin at noon and will end at 2 p.m.

If you'd like to make a difference in someone's life this holiday, there's still time to help.

NewsChannel 5 has teamed up with the Nashville Rescue Mission to continue helping our homeless. The initiative is called Hunger to Hope. Just $2.26 can help feed one person a hot meal.
