TRIGG COUNTY, Tenn. – A tractor trailer fire blocked the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Trigg County for hours on Friday.
The roadway was cleared by 1 p.m. after the trailer of a semi carrying pears was engulfed by flames around 5:30 a.m. near the exit 65 ramp at Cadiz.
Kentucky transportation officials said the fire was difficult to extinguish, and a backhoe had to be brought in to break open the trailer help firefighters access the burning cargo inside.
No injuries were reported.
