Police: Man Attacked Store Clerk With Crow Bar During Robbery
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man attacked a convenience store clerk with a crow bar during a robbery, according to police.
Police said 47-year-old Skipper Kephart entered the Mapco on Murfreesboro Pike carrying a crow bar, and demanded money on Sunday night. The clerk refused, and the two got into a struggle during which the clerk was hit with the crow bar. Kephart then tried to pry open the register with the crow bar, but was unsuccessful.
He then dragged the clerk over to the register, but he was still too stunned to open it.
Police said Kephart grabbed the entire register, along with a couple of packs of cigarettes and a 12-pack of Budweiser, and ran out of the store.
He allegedly got into a truck with two others, but they were stopped a short time later because they didn't have their headlights on. The truck was found to be stolen from Murfreesboro.
All three were taken into custody. Kephart was charged with especially aggravated robbery and theft. He was held on $150,000 combined bond.
