SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – A woman was shot and killed by her stepfather during a domestic dispute at a home in Springfield on Monday night, according to police.

Springfield Police responding to a call found Mackenzie A. Gibson with a gunshot wound to the abdomen at a home on Shelby Lynn Drive around 6:30 p.m. She was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where she died Monday night.

An investigation showed Gibson and her stepfather, Thomas Lynn Bunn, had gotten into a fight, and she was armed with a baseball bat and a knife when Bunn shot her.

Police said they will present the evidence to the District Attorney for review upon completion of their investigation. As of Tuesday, no charges had been filed.
