The impact pushed the car into a 2003 Buick, which was traveling on the other side of the highway.
The driver of the 1993 Buick, 19-year-old Maximillio Macheca, was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
THP officials said he was wearing a seatbelt. His passenger, 20-year-old Grant Jones, and the driver of the 2003 Buick, 66-year-old Diane Cothran, were taken by ambulance to University Medical Center.
The driver of the tractor trailer, John Elmore, was not injured.
