19-Year-Old Convicted Felon Charged In Bordeaux Murder

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A convicted felon out on a suspended prison sentence has been charged in a fatal murder during an illegal gun sale.

Police arrested 19-year-old Lawton Williams on Wednesday and charged him with the November 20th murder of Laron Owens and the attempted murder of two other men. Officials said that Owens was shot in the head during a robbery attempte on Curtis Street.

Owens was the rear passenger in 2004 Pontiac Grand Am parked near his home along with 22-year-old Derryen Doss and 19-year-old Leontay Harris.

Police said their investigation found Williams has been a passenger in the Pontiac prior to the shooting. An affidavit said Williams was planning to sell a gun to the victims, but instead got out of the vehicle, and opened fire on the vehicle.

Owens and Doss were struck. Both were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Owens died. Doss was treated and released.

Police were able to track down Williams after finding his fingerprints at the crime scene.

According to police, Williams received two three-year concurrent suspended sentences for aggravated burglary and felony theft in September 2011.
