Forest Fire Reported On Williamson, Rutherford Co. Line

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn.- A large forest fire has been reported in Rutherford County.

Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold said a fire was reported on the Rutherford County and Williamson County line with flames in the trees. The fire was said to be heaviest in the area of Independent Hill Road and Pawpaw Springs Road.

About six acres of land was reported to be on fire. Officials said the consists of undergrowth with lots of leaves which was causing the fire to spread rapidly.

The local forestry department and the Almaville Volunteer Fire Department  called the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office for assistance in containing and extinguishing the fire. Several bulldozers from Lawrenceburg were also called to the scene to assist.

Officials said that no homes were in danger and that no evacuations have been planned.

Rutherford County Sheriff  Arnold said that a citation was issued for land owner Donald Powell because he did not obtain a burn permit before starting a fire, which was believed to have started the fire.
