Smith County Man Charged With Statutory Rape

SMITH COUNTY, Tenn. – A Smith County man has been charged with two counts of statutory rape.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested 21-year-old Jerry Ryan Lewis on Tuesday after an investigation into allegations of sexual activity with a minor was requested by the District Attorney General.

He was indicted by the Smith County grand jury on two counts of statutory rape for engaging in sexual activity with a minor child between April and September 2011 in Carthage.

Lewis was booked into the Smith County Jail on $2,000 bond.
