Overturned Vehicle Forces I-40 Lane Closure Near Downtown
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – One lane of traffic has been blocked on Interstate 40 near Church Street after at least one vehicle went off the shoulder and overturned onto the off-ramp.
The crash happened around 2 p.m. Thursday on the eastbound lanes, just west of downtown Nashville.
EMTs from the Nashville Fire Department were among the first to the scene, along with an incident response vehicle from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Several police units were also called to the crash.
It was unclear how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured, although there was an ambulance on scene.
The right lane was blocked as emergency crews worked to help any victims. Westbound traffic was not affected.
The off-ramp to Church Street was also closed.
The cause of the crash was unknown.
TDOT officials estimated the scene to be cleared by 3 p.m.
