OVERTON COUNTY, Tenn.- Public Schools in Overton County announced they will close Monday due to illness.
School officials said numerous teachers, students and administrators have been affected by a flu outbreak that's sweeping the state. In the past two weeks Clay, Van Buren, Macon, and Stewart Counties in Tennessee and Monroe County Kentucky have closed because of the flu.
Health officials say flu is already widespread in Tennessee. In response, all of the state's county health department clinics will now offer free vaccines to everyone until supplies are depleted. Getting vaccinated is something medical professionals say is a way to prevent the spread of the flu.
