Two Killed In Robertson County Crash

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn.- Two Portland residents were killed in a crash on Highway 49 in Robertson County Friday afternoon.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol the crash involved a tractor trailer and passenger vehicle. It happened on State Highway 49 near Wilks Road around 3 p.m.

Police said that a car driven by 59-year-old Teresa Jackson crossed the center line on Highway 49 and caused a head on collision with the tractor trailer.

Officials said Teresa Jackson and 36-year-old Jason Jackson died at the scene of the crash. A third person inside the car, 82-year-old Jean Ray was taken by emergency medical helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. All three victims were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 44-year-old Tommy Johnston, was not injured. Police said no criminal charges will be filed in the case.

The roadway reopened around 9 p.m. Friday night.
